Child Dedication
This is a ceremony to celebrate a young child. Other terms often used: Blessing, Naming, Welcoming or Dedication. Child Dedications most commonly use symbols such as water (for purity) and flowers (for growth, life, beauty). Ceremonies like this are also appropriate for children who are adopted.
Funeral/Memorial Services
Unitarians recognize the deep sense of loss expressed in memorial services. They seek to reflect a sense of the life and beliefs of the deceased person, and to be sensitive to the needs and wishes of the bereaved. Ceremonies are designed to express a celebration and thanksgiving for the deceased person’s life, as well as express the sadness of the loss.
