“Music is the thing that moves the heart and soul.”

This Sunday, to open Christmas week, we invite you to our popular annual service of Christmas Music. Please join us for this Christmas service of music, memories, and musings. If anyone has a seasonal (Yule, Christmas, Hanukkah, Bodhi Day, Posadas Navide˜nas, Kwanzaa, Midwinter Day or another) memory, short reading or live or recorded music to share at this service, there is still a bit of time to contact Linda Sprague, who is leading the service.
We will meet at 10:30 at 874 York Street, where we welcome children, youth, and adults to a “whole church” program (i.e. people of all ages will share stories and songs in the Sanctuary). This is a wonderful opportunity for families to attend our Sunday Service for the first time or the first time in a while. You may also attend on Zoom, although in the interests of full disclosure we admit that in-person attendance will give you a fuller experience. Please stay for coffee, cookies, and conversation following the service.
Unitarians approach Christmas in different ways. We celebrate different and multiple holidays and festivals. Religious educator Sophia Lyon Fahs taught us that “Every night a child is born is a holy night.” Christmas represents the miracle of life and the transformative gift of love. UUs may honour Solstice and Yule with symbols or ceremonies, recognizing the nurturing darkness and the return of the light that are at the heart of festivals in countries around the world.
At the Unitarian Fellowship of Fredericton, we appreciate the gifts of people of diverse beliefs, those whose individual spiritual journey opens them to the questions and principles we embrace, those who long for a connection to a community that will care and support them, those who cherish inspiration, comfort, or even doubts.
