Topic: International Women’s Day in Uncertain Times
Speaker and Service Leader: Jo-Anne Elder-Gomes
Every year, the Canadian Unitarian * Universalist Women’s Association invites UU congregations across Canada to mark International Women’s Day in a Sunday Service. This year, Jo-Anne Elder-Gomes (one of the CUUWA’s elders) will explain how feminists in Canadian and international UU organizations have worked for gender equity, reproductive rights, and intersectionality in uncertain times. The concept of metafeminism (how we talk about feminism) will also be briefly discussed.
We strive to provide a safe and welcoming community for people of all genders, sexual orientations, ages, classes, races, abilities, and religious beliefs. Our building is wheelchair-accessible, scent and smoke free, and located on a Sunday bus route. Supervised playtime may be available. Refreshments are provided every Sunday morning.
