Rental Agreement

We ask that you read the following information when you are applying to rent space at 874 York Street. If you have questions, please contact us at rentals@uff.ca

  • The Unitarian Fellowship of Fredericton (UFF) assumes no responsibility for the programs, activities, or finances of any individual or group renting space in the building or on the grounds.
  • When inviting people to or promoting your event or giving directions, please use our address, 874 York Street, rather than our name, the Unitarian Fellowship, so that we don’t receive phone or email messages about your event, organization, services, or business that would be better answered by you.
  • Renters must take responsibility for parking. Our circular driveway provides parking for 20-25 vehicles. Additional parking may be available on Montgomery and Mitchell Streets. Renters must ensure vehicles do not block the driveway nor block emergency vehicles, creating a dangerous situation. There are Fredericton Transit stops a short distance away: York-Montgomery on line 150 on Sunday and lines 14N and 15S on other days.
  • Emergency telephone numbers are posted at the telephone in the kitchen and in the entryway outside the library. Please take note of these before your event begins.
  • There is an A.E.D. (Automated External Defibrillator) and a First Aid Kit in the Kitchen. There are fire extinguishers in the following places: On the wall in the upstairs hallway outside the Children’s Room, in the Kitchen, on the stairwell wall inside the door from the Kitchen to the Basement. There are Emergency Exits in the Sanctuary and off the Kitchen. There is an egress window in the Children’s Room that can be cranked open to provide access to the garage roof in an emergency.  Please take note of these before your event begins.
  • Children (under 13 years of age) need to be supervised at all times, everywhere in the building and on the grounds outside. If using the Children’s room, ensure that toys, crafts, and supplies are returned to their places in good condition.
  • If using candles, use battery operated ones. Please don’t celebrate with confetti or rice or by releasing balloons.
  • Smoking or vaping is not permitted in the building or within ten metres of the entrance/exit doors.
  • Please consider the entire building a scent-free environment.
  • Assisted living dogs are the only animals permitted at 874 York Street.
  • Renters are expected to conform to any current order or advice of the provincial Chief Medical Officer of Health and to Provincial Health Orders.
  • Use of the Kitchen is permitted only if you have rented it along with the Sanctuary, Library, Children’s Room, or Grounds, or some combination of these spaces.
  • Please clean the surfaces you use in the kitchen, e.g. countertops and, if they were used, tables, microwave, stove top, etc. Please clean any spills on the floor. We ask that you not turn on the dishwasher. Load the dishes that need to be cleaned. We will turn on the dishwasher later. We also ask you not to leave any leftover food, any garbage, any recyclables, or any redeemable beverage containers. If you do not want to take garbage bags with you, please place them in the garbage bin at the side of the building.
  • Paper products, such as boxes of tissues, can be found in the pink bathroom upstairs.
  • There are folding tables and chairs that can be moved to whatever space(s) you are renting and set up in whatever way works for your purposes.
  • Renters are asked to return the spaces, as close as possible, to the condition in which they were found. For example, if you open the drapes in the Sanctuary, please close them before you leave; if you close them, please open them before you leave. This applies to interior doors and lights also.
  • If renting the Sanctuary, a large screen TV, wifi, and an HDMI cable are available and included in the rent. For online events such as Zoom, Renters will need their own laptop computer and microphones. Please ask for our computer stand and HDMI cable to be left in the Sanctuary for you if you do not have your own. If you would like someone to operate this equipment for you, we can provide the contact information of a private technician who will charge their own fee.
  • The piano in the Sanctuary cannot be moved. If you want to play the piano, please speak with the Rentals committee well before the day the piano will be played so that we can arrange for a member of our congregation who is familiar with the “quirks” of opening the piano to meet with you.
  • Please provide one week’s notice if cancelling a single rental event. Your payment will be returned to you. Please provide one week’s notice if cancelling a weekly rental. Cancellation of a weekly rental will result in that week’s fee being credited to the Renter for subsequent rentals. If cancellation with shorter notice, either by the Renter or by UFF is due to weather, driving conditions, public health orders, or other unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the Renter or UFF, your payment will be returned to you.
