On September 28, speakers Anne-Marie Hartford and Karen Lake will facilitate the service. A Death Café is a gathering of adults who talk about death and dying in a supportive, respectful, and confidential space. The goal of attending a Death Café is to become more comfortable thinking and talking about death and dying so you can be more at ease when engaging in conversations with your loved ones about your wishes or theirs.
Unitarian Universalists do not share a belief system or a dogma. As on the matters of the end of life and life after death, our members and friends have a wide range of evolving answers to significant spiritual questions. We work together to pursue our own journeys, find our own truth and meaning, develop our humanity, learn to live together in greater harmony and compassion. We ask you to bring an open mind, deep respect for other perspectives, and your sincere understanding of the worth and dignity of all beings.
We meet in the Sanctuary at 874 York Street at 10:30. There is a wheelchair-accessible entrance next to the entrance on the right side of the building. Our first floor meeting spaces and washrooms are accessible. The building is scent- and smoke-free. We have certified as a Welcoming Congregation (embracing the full value and participation of people of all gender identities and presentations and sexual and relational orientations). The Unitarian Fellowship of Fredericton performed same-sex unions and were active in the achievement of marriage equality since our beginnings.
On September 28, children will be learning about National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: Craft, story, and discussion of the importance of Orange Shirt Day.
As well in-person programs for adults and children and refreshments following, we also offer access to our services on Zoom. The link is: here; password: coffee. Attendees may share their Joys and Sorrows and participate in the service concurrently. After most Sunday Services, Zoom participants have a small-group discussion on questions raised by the service.
