Spirit of the Sea

Speaker:  Rev. Carole Martignacco

Service Leader: Janet Crawford

Tech: Wyatt Elliot

We here in the Fundy Bay communities share a unique perspective, shaped by daily awareness of the tidal rhythms. Walking the shoreline where the great sea meets the land, we are reminded of how our very existence depends upon our interconnectedness with land and marine creatures. We will celebrate this coastal beauty with song, story and poetry.

Reverend Carole Martignacco is a retired minister and former UU religious educator who lives in St. Andrews, New Brunswick. She has served UU congregations in Montreal and North Hatley Québec, and northern Vermont. She is a warm and compassionate presence in our UU community, and has visited the Unitarian Fellowship of Fredericton to offer us sermons and readings. She is also a poet and writer, and a teacher of writing. Since retiring in 2019 and moving to New Brunswick, she has returned to earlier passions of poetry and the arts. Her award-winning book The Everything Seed, published in 2006, has been featured internationally in multiple venues. Open to the Spirit: The Soul’s Alphabet is available through major booksellers, and a poetry collection entitled A Bowl of Orange Suns was published in 2021 by Shoreline Press. UFF members and friends were delighted to welcome her to the Fellowship for a launch of that book with poetry and music.

For Children and Youth: May 3: A Class Pet, Part Two

Today, children will learn more about the species they chose to adopt on April 19th (the giant panda!). Children will view a live zoo camera of the animal, learn how the zookeepers care for them, and discuss the importance of wildlife conservation. (Principle Seven)

Please note that at 1 pm on May 3 we will celebrate the life of Anne Leslie. We invite you to join us at the Fellowship to share your memories of Anne and comfort her family with your presence and care.
